Amish Cabinet Doors Cabinet Door Styles Guide

Q: What quality of wood is used for Amish Cabinet Doors products?

A: Our kitchen cabinet doors or bathroom cabinet doors are made using only the finest select grade woods. For oak cabinet doors, we use Northern Red Oak, selected for color uniformity. For maple kitchen cabinets and cabinet doors, we use White Hard Maple, chosen for whiteness and uniformity of color. For cherry cabinet doors, we use select grade Cherry with a 96% minimum of heartwood on the front side. (Please note that we give great effort towards matching the degree of heartwood on the front side of the unfinished cabinet doors in your order.) Paint-grade Maple and Birch cabinet doors are not uniform in colors and are intended to be painted. Flat-panel doors use 1/4" Maple, Oak, or Cherry plywood panels. Please note that veneers may take stain differently than the solid wood frames. For a complete listing of the quality and types of wood available for our custom cabinet doors, please see our Product Catalog.

Q: What steps do I need to take for prepare my unfinished cabinet doors prior to my staining them?

A: Your cabinet doors are sanded to 180-grit prior to shipping. We recommend giving your doors a "quick once over" upon receipt to remove shipping mars. Our cabinet doors are all raw wood. Care must be taken to keep them dry and clean. Cabinet doors left exposed can absorb moisture, then requiring re-sanding.

Q: Will there be shipping charges or taxes added to my order?

A: For orders totaling $650.00 or more, shipping within the continental US is included. For orders totaling under $250.00, an additional $30.00 flat fee will be added. For orders totaling between $250.01 and $649.99, an additional flat $50.00 fee will be added. Further charge may be added for shipping outside of the continental US.

Q: To ensure my doors are built to the correct size, how should I measure and record my cabinet door sizes?

A: First, and most importantly, we build your custom cabinet doors to the specifications you provide. We are capable of building cabinet doors in 1/8" increments, so please round down all measurements to the nearest 1/8" increments. Be sure to state your cabinet door sizes in inches a width x height format. These instructions are for kitchen cabinet doors where you can see a portion of the face frame on all four sides of the installed door.

When measuring the openings for this type of cabinet door, be sure to add for the overlay you wish. For example, your kitchen cabinet opening is 22 3/8" wide, and 28 5/8" high, and you want the door to overlay the opening 1/2" on each side, then you would order a door 23 3/8" (22 3/8" + 1/2" + 1/2") by 29 5/8" (28 5/8" + 1/2" + 1/2"). If your kitchen cabinet set-up is the type where the kitchen cabinet doors “butt" together with no center stile, record your measurements as described above only add 1/2" for one side of each door (each door is then 22 7/8" X 29 5/8"). The normal overlay for a framed cabinet with exposed hinges is 3/8" on each side. The normal overlay for a framed cabinet with hidden hinges is ½” on each side. Review our measuring guide for complete detailed and instructions.

Q: After ordering, when can I expect delivery?

A: You order will be filled and shipped within 20 working days. Actual delivery could add another week before receipt. However, if you require your order sooner, we offer expediated building and shipping choices. For an additional fee (calculated for you on our website), we can give your order priority and build and ship your order in either 7 or 12 working days.

Q: Are there minimum or maximum sizes that cabinet doors can be built?

A: The maximum height we will manufacture kitchen cabinet doors is 60". The maximum width is 24". A crosspiece is added to all doors over 42" in height (double panel door). The minimum width we will manufacture a cabinet door is 6" for flat panel cabinet doors and 8" for raised panel cabinet doors. On doors over 36" tall, a warpage of <1/8" is within tolerances.
